Specialized Accreditation

In addition to institutional accreditation, many individual NMSU programs are accredited by professional associations and state agencies, including bodies recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Recognition by CHEA affirms that the standards and processes of the accrediting organization are consistent with the academic quality, improvement and accountability expectations that CHEA has established, including the eligibility standard that the majority of institutions or programs each accredits are degree-granting. This level of accreditation provides students, families, and other stakeholders with assurance of the quality of these programs and demonstrates NMSU’s commitment to continuous improvement. Accreditation at all levels is important.  A program’s accreditation status can influence financial aid and other funding, credit transfers, and employment prospects for students.

The table below provides summary information on the accreditation status of individual NMSU programs. For additional information or assistance, please contact the Office of Accreditation.
