The Writing Center

The Writing Center offers free services to all NMSU students. Staffed by trained graduate assistant consultants, students can receive one-on-one consultations at any stage in the writing process, from understanding assignment directions to revising final drafts. Consultants advise students on aspects of proofreading and editing, but do not provide editing services. The following video provides information about the Center and the services provided. Faculty should encourage students to take advantage of Writing Center services. For more information visit the Writing Center website.

The Borderlands Writing Project (BWP)

The Borderlands Writing Project (BWP), formerly the New Mexico State Writing Project, is an affiliate site of the National Writing Project. The BWP serves educators in Las Cruces and El Paso, as well as across the southwestern borderlands of New Mexico. The BWP provides opportunities for teachers to explore their own writing, investigate how they teach and assess writing, and reflect on how their students learn to write and how writing helps learning in all areas. In addition, the BWP supports educators by establishing diverse, supportive, professional communities wherein dedicated teachers share their triumphs and struggles.

The following video shows one of the BWP projects:
